José Smith Sanchez Guanoluisa

Hi! My name is José! This year, I’m in 4th grade here at the Center and I’ll be turning 9 years old. I always make good grades in my classes. I live with my older brother, Joel (10 years old), and my mom. My brother is my best friend – he always looks out for me and I’m thankful for him in my life. This year, he will make his First Communion. I want to, too, but I have to wait until I’m older.

On a usual day, I would be with my friends in school at the Center. I love art class and I try my best with English and math – I still have to learn a lot. But now, because of the Coronavirus, we’re having school at home. It’s been kind of hard to study at home, but Joel and I are doing our best. Our teachers are really nice and I like when I can see my friends on Zoom. I just want everything to be safe and okay so my brother and I can go back to in-person classes when the Center opens up!

My mom didn’t have a job at the beginning of the pandemic, but I prayed she would find something that made her happy. And then she got the call from Miss Silvia! My mom is now a part of the Center Sewing Workshop and is helping make masks, bio-secure suits, and other things to help keep people safe. I’m very proud of all her hard work!

Mom says she is very glad we have the Center because they help us get enough food during the continued pandemic, they gave my mom sewing training and a job, and they are very nice to my family. I am really thankful, too!

Thank you for helping the Center because the Center does a lot of good things for me and my family!

Hope to see you soon,
José
