Serena Steele

development director

Upon returning to her home state of Michigan, Serena joined the Center for Working Families (C4WF) as the Development Director in November 2021.

After studying Special Education and Marketing, she worked in a variety of roles in the private sector and in government.

She was heavily involved in nonprofit volunteering in board, event planning, and fundraising functions, when it became clear that her true calling was in philanthropy. She worked for a number of years as development officer for a nonprofit with roots in Latin America, so it was obvious that C4WF would be a perfect fit.

When asked about her role, Serena shares, "I have the best job, because I work with the best of the best. Firstly, the families that we serve, then the staff that has their boots on the ground everyday in Quito, and then all the supporters and donors that care so deeply for the mission and help make it all happen. Everyday, I get to see the best.”

Her goals for this role are to strengthen supporter relationships, grow fundraising and expand the C4WF’s donor base.
