Dr. Mary Moothart, Phd
Board member & PARISH GROUP LEADER

Mary first became acquainted with the Center when Madre Miguel’s sister who was a classmate at Clarke University initiated information and, of course, fund-raising efforts. In 2010, she and her husband, Tim, visited the Center, the staff and families and truly felt they had “come home.” They had returned annually with groups from the Dubuque, Iowa area, until 2020 and COVID-19 restrictions.

She is a wife, mother, and delighted grandmother of five. Currently living in Dubuque and actively involved in the Church of the Resurrection parish, serving as co-chair of their Social Justice committee, a representative on Dubuque Area Congregations United and volunteer, tutor and “cultural broker” at the Presentation Lantern Center which serves immigrants. She and her husband, Tim, have recently become part of an Afghanistan Sponsor Circle which is welcoming and supplying support and hospitality to an Afghanistan family in Dubuque.

She retired as a Marriage and Family Therapist working with families in the high-risk elementary schools in Dubuque and from private practice.

Mary’s undergraduate degree is from Clarke University, and later a PhD from the University of Iowa.
